1- Why Biometrics?
The fingerprint is a physical characteristic that is always available. ID-badges, Keys or other means are easy to lose, can be stolen and/or duplicated. Passwords and pin-numbers can also be forgotten. Therefore, biometrics provides the highest level of security, convenience and ease of use.

2- What is the difference between verification and Identification?
Verification is a double token procedure where you need to supply a first identification that is verified with a second token. This procedure would be describe has confirming who you say you are. The Identification is a single token method. Using a structured query, the Biometrics is use to compare and find in the database who you are.

3- Why use the Fingerprint?
This method is the oldest and most commonly accepted technology. Most importantly, the fingerprint recognition is the most affordable and cost effective compared against Voice, Retina, hand signature …

4- How do it work?
The device sensor scans the user's finger and captures the live 3-D fingerprint image. SecuGen® minutiae based algorithm then extracts minutiae points from the image and converts the data into a unique mathematical template, comparable to a 60 digit password. This unique template is then encrypted and stored to represent the user. No actual image of the fingerprint is stored.

5- How do SecuGen's® products handle dirt, oil or moisture build-up?
Very well. SecuGen's® patent-pending optical prism is specially designed to resist distortions caused by dirt, oil or moisture build-up Unlike many other optical devices, there are no expensive coatings to disturb on the hard surface of the prism. Designed for high usage and daily exposure to touch and contaminants from hands, SecuGen's® scratch-resistant fingerprint sensor can easily be cleaned or wiped.
